USFWS Proposes Endangered Species Protection for Monarchs

USFWS has proposed to list the Monarchs as threatened with species-specific protections and flexibilities to encourage conservation under section 4(d) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA).  More info at USFWS and Xerces.

Oregon Receives Monarch Butterfly Conservation Funding

Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced Nov. 26, 2024 the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF)’s Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund (Pollinator Fund) is providing $758,810 for two projects that will increase and improve western monarch butterfly and pollinator habitats in Oregon.  More info here.
